In 2008, Governor Granholm signed the nation’s most aggressive film incentive program to spur the growth of a new industry that would provide good-paying, long-term jobs for Michigan workers. The film incentives were part of an economic stimulus package designed to grow a creative sector in Michigan. The program provides incentives for film, television and other digital media production in Michigan, as well as infrastructure development and workforce training.

In the first two years after passage of the incentives, more than 14,000 production and filmjobs were created or retained in Michigan in the film industry.
